(01) Project Overview
Bread and Butter.
Beat de Rush is a meal kits and grocery service that allows consumers to customize ingredients to advocate for food waste reduction. The project aims to encourage healthy eating and home cooking while reducing significant amounts of food waste and supporting local suppliers. It focuses on finding the fun in sustainability and nutritious home cooking to maintain a balanced diet amidst the fast-paced world.

(02) Challenge
Recipe for a Great Design.
The challenge was to find ways to encourage nutritious home cooking. Many young Thais prefer dining out or ordering in for efficiency and convenience, leaving home cooking a lost art. While cooking can be time consuming, some still prefer it over eating out, but grocery shopping can be wasteful and expensive. This project intends to be the bridge between sustainability and food waste reduction by allowing consumers to either choose whether to cook from meal kits or utilize the grocery service.
Another challenge was to reduce significant amounts of food waste that stems from overbuying groceries, overestimating usage, and buying fast-expiring food if not taken care of properly. This project acts as an easy and convenient way for consumers to buy specific amounts of ingredients needed for each meal to prevent them from expiring or wasting excess leftovers if not eaten due to the lack of time to cook or simply having had enough of repetitive ingredients in a meal.
Lastly, I want to support local suppliers by working directly with grocery stores that vends local products to avoid excess waste if ordered directly from the farmer's market since the business model is to provide the products at specific quantities based on consumer needs. In doing so, the project allows customers to customize healthy meals by having full control over ingredients with sustainability and food waste reduction in mind.

(03) Results
A pinch of salt goes a long way.
The design solution is to serve as a link between two different problems into one convenient approach by creating a product and service platform that allows consumers to easily select their meals and/or ingredients for home cooking. Meal kits with ready-to-cook ingredients and a website for grocery service where customers can tailor the amount of ingredients based on their specific recipes, along with personalized subscription options for those who want to customize their meals even more.
The name of the brand is the foundation of everything and the main objective is to make it relatable, catchy, playful, and has a fun wordplay. Since the project is food related, the name needs to reflect the purpose and theme so that the target consumer understands what it is. “Beet de Rush” was the final selection of the naming, coming from the phrase “beat the rush,” meaning arriving early or acting ahead of time to avoid heavy crowds or busy periods as the brand is centered around urban life. It is commonly used to bypass peak congestion, ensuring a faster, more relaxed experience.
